FAQ

FAQ

Q: What kinds of materials or objects can be powder coated?

A: We can apply our custom powder coating to any aluminum, carbon, or steel object.

Q: What is powder coating?

A: Powder coating is the process of fusing powdered paint onto a metal surface. This method of painting metal without liquid paint allows for a more durable and uniform finish. Powder coating involves finely ground particles of pigment and resin which are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the metal to be coated. The parts are electrically grounded so the charged particles adhere to them. Then the particles are melted in a curing oven to form a solid coat which is fused to the metal. The resilient finish can withstand extreme conditions like pressure, temperature, mechanical wear, chemical corrosion, and outdoor weathering, making powder coating ideal for air conditioning systems, marine instrumentation, and other industrial applications.

Q: How long of a turn-around time can I expect for my project?

A: This can vary from project to project, but, if we have the powder in stock, your project can be completed in as little as a day. Please call us for a specific quote.

Q: Do you keep powder in stock and, if so, what types do you carry?

A: We have a large supply of powder in stock, including RAL colors. We have all types of thermal plastic powders and thermal setting powders in our inventory. We will special order any powder that we do not have in stock.

Q: Is there a size limit to the objects that can be powdered?

A: With a 4" I-beam conveyor system, we have the capabilities of powder coating parts as large as 4,000 pounds, 8' in height, and 35' in length. We can also powder coat small objects like nuts and bolts.

Q: What is the difference between Thermosetting and Thermoplastic powder?

A: When Thermosetting powder is heated, it becomes a solid and remains solid. Thermoplastic powder forms a solid when heated, but will melt when heated again.

Q: Do you offer custom colors?

A: Yes. We can provide color matching.

Q: What is your pick-up and delivery range?

A: Texas Custom Coaters will pick up and deliver anywhere in Central Texas, within a 150-mile radius of Navasota, TX for industrial customers.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

A: TCC is open 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Thursday. Friday we are open from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Q: Who can I speak to if I do not know which type of powder I need?

A: Owner David Keelan is happy to help you choose the right powder and process based on your parts and application.
